The problem

The technology exists. The process is broken.

The average motivated homeowner spends 40+ hours researching electrification upgrades and still ends up stuck. Hundreds of overlapping programs. Dozens of contractor quotes. No guidance on sequencing. Most never start. The ones who do, overpay — and leave federal, state, and utility money on the table.

<5%
of homeowners who want to electrify actually complete a project — not for lack of desire, but for lack of a clear path.
30%
of eligible homeowners ever claim the incentives they qualify for. The other 70% leave thousands on the table — because nobody tells them what they're entitled to.
40%
reduction in heat pump size — and cost — when insulation is upgraded first. Sequencing is savings. Most platforms never model it.

The math

120+ data points per home,
all of them honest.

Most "free home assessments" are glorified ZIP-code lookups — averages pulled from a table. Guilder does something different: every recommendation comes out of an engineering-grade simulation of your house, not a generic one.

  • 120+

Distinct data points feed every analysis — satellite-derived roof geometry, parcel records, 12 months of utility data, solar irradiance, equipment specs, climate norms, and dozens of values we compute from those.

  • 0

Site visits required. The competing "free audits" need scheduling, a home visit, and a sales pitch. Ours runs in under a minute from your couch.

  • 12mo

Of your actual usage data informs every number — not a generic average for your zip code. Your winter peak, your summer baseline, your mid-day load.

What actually matters

The upgrades that
move the needle.

Every home is different, but the physics aren't. These are the seven electrification and efficiency upgrades Guilder models, ranked by average impact across typical New England single-family homes. Your roadmap will vary — but this is the hierarchy.

01

Air sealing + insulation

Envelope · Enables everything downstream
Cheapest per ton of CO₂. Cuts HVAC load by 20–40%, which means any heat pump you install after is smaller and cheaper. If you only do one thing, do this.
CO₂
ROI
$3–6k3–5yr payback
02

Heat pump (HVAC)

Heating + cooling · Biggest fossil-fuel cut
Replaces oil, propane, or gas furnace with a system that delivers 2–3× more heat per unit of energy. Largest single CO₂ reduction in most homes.
CO₂
ROI
$7–14kAfter incentives
03

Heat pump water heater

Hot water · Quiet wins
Uses 3–4× less energy than a traditional tank. Cheap to retrofit, often overlooked, and the IRA tax credit covers 30% of the install cost.
CO₂
ROI
$2–4k4–7yr payback
04

Rooftop solar

Generation · Offsets everything else
Offsets 80–100% of your electric use for 25+ years. Biggest dollar savings over the life of the system — but only after you've reduced your load first.
CO₂
ROI
$12–20k7–10yr payback
05

Battery storage

Resilience · Grid independence
Stores solar for nights and outages. Best paired with solar. Economics improve with peak-rate utility tariffs and grid instability.
CO₂
ROI
$10–18kWith solar
06

EV charger (Level 2)

Transportation · Future-proof
Small install, big ROI if you have or plan to get an EV. Many utilities offer $500–1,500 rebates directly. 30% federal tax credit also applies.
CO₂
ROI
$0.8–2kPost rebate
07

Induction range

Cooking · Health + climate
Removes indoor gas combustion (air-quality win) and runs on cheap renewable electricity. IRA tax credit + state rebates cover most of the cost.
CO₂
ROI
$1.5–3kPost rebate
Project values shown reflect electrification and efficiency upgrades only — heat pumps, solar, insulation, battery, EV, induction. Guilder does not scope aesthetic renovations (kitchens, bathrooms, flooring). Every project we match is energy-impact positive.
Why Guilder

Everyone owns a piece.
No one owns the whole.

Solar marketplaces only help if you already know you want solar. Contractor networks give you a name and a number. Government sites list programs and leave you to decode them. Guilder is the only platform that connects diagnosis, incentives, sequencing, and execution into a single path.

The bigger picture

Climate change
is a home renovation problem.

Residential buildings produce 13–15% of US greenhouse emissions. Unlike power plants, that footprint can't be fixed centrally — it has to be fixed house by house. The technology exists. The money is on the table. We're the missing piece that turns desire into action.

Start with your home
4–8tCO₂
eliminated per household per year from a typical whole-home electrification package
30–50%
reduction in total home energy consumption when upgrades are properly sequenced
25k+

For contractors

Leads that are
already saying yes.

Most lead platforms sell you a name and a phone number. Guilder sends you a homeowner with a fully scoped project, stacked incentives, and an optimized upgrade plan. You show up to close, not to educate.

  • Pre-scoped projects with verified specs, no prospecting site visits
  • 6–8% project referral fee — no upfront cost, no per-lead charges
  • Performance scoring rewards quality with more lead flow
  • Certification-matched leads (HPIN, BPI, NABCEP)

Common questions

Answers,
honestly.

Have a question we haven't covered? Write us — we read everything.

Is Guilder actually free for homeowners?+
Yes. We earn a 6–8% referral fee from the contractor when a project closes. Homeowners pay nothing for the analysis, incentive discovery, roadmap, or contractor matching. Contractors pay it because pre-scoped leads convert far better than cold prospects.
How is this different from a free online calculator?+
Most calculators use lookup tables — "a 2,000 sq ft home in Connecticut averages X in heating costs." We actually simulate your house: heat flow equations, your real R-values, the specific degree days for your town, roof orientation and pitch, and the age and efficiency of your equipment. You get a number that's specific to your home, not an average of homes near it.
How accurate is an analysis without a site visit?+
Satellite imagery gives us roof geometry, orientation, and shading. Assessor records give us year built, square footage, construction type. Your equipment photos tell us exact age and efficiency. Combined with 12 months of utility data, this produces projections comparable to a preliminary walkthrough. Contractors refine the final scope — our job is to get you there with confidence and a clear plan.
What data do I need to give you?+
Three things: your address, a utility bill (PDF or photo — we pull 12 months from it), and a photo of your major equipment (water heater, furnace, or the label on the back of the unit). That's it. We never ask for your Social Security number, bank details, or credit info.
What if the IRA or state incentives change?+
Our engine tracks regulatory changes daily and updates eligibility in real time. State and utility programs historically have filled gaps when federal programs change. The process is complex enough that if anything, regulatory change makes us more valuable — not less.
Do you handle any kind of renovation, or just energy projects?+
Only energy and electrification projects. Heat pumps, solar, insulation, batteries, EV chargers, induction. We don't scope kitchens or bathrooms — that's not where the climate and cost impact is. Every project we match is energy-impact positive.
When will Guilder be available in my area?+
We're live now in Fairfield County, CT, and expanding across Connecticut through 2027, then into Westchester County, NY and greater New England. Drop your address below and we'll let you know the moment your county is covered.
